I can’t tell you how excited I am to be writing my very first blog! But more than that, I’m so happy to be reaching out to all of you, and being able to directly share my tips, experiences, and some of my favorite things. From behind the scenes inside the kitchen, to dinner parties, to photo shoots and funny moments, this blog is meant to bring you all into my day to day life with Bocca di Bacco.
Every friendship must start with a few background details. So here goes 🙂 My passion has always been creating, crafting, moulding, discovering and sharing culinary delights. Ever since my early years growing up in California, I’ve loved learning and sampling Italian dishes, crafted by my Italian-American family. But as we all know, Italian food is not often promoted as the kindest to our waistlines. Wasn’t it Sophia Loren that once said, “Everything you see, I owe to spaghetti”?) So I enjoyed the challenge of helping my parents enjoy their favorite Italian dishes while staying health-conscious. That was really what inspired me to pursue this as a career and move to the Big Apple!
Since my move here to New York, I began working with NYCRG. As Executive Chef and Culinary Director of all three Bocca di Bacco restaurants, I strive to bring that farm-to-table concept, with the use of fresh and flavorful ingredients. At the front of my mind is always healthy cooking techniques and I have shared some tips on TV with my regular appearances on WCBS’s morning news, WLNY’s “Live from the Couch” and NBC’s “Today” show. It is so important to me to debunk the myth that Italian food is carb-heavy and not to be eaten as part of a healthy regime! I want to show you a fresher and modern approach to Italian cooking that is AS satisfying as your old favorites.
I hope that with this blog, you will learn about not only my tips and tricks, but really the culture and experiences that I share at Bocca di Bacco! Most importantly, to engage and ask me questions!
